In a dystopian fairy-tale world where war has given rise to a kingdom named Illéa, society is divided into castes. The Selection is a competition between twenty girls called the Selected who compete to marry the prince and become the Princess of Illéa. The girls are sent to the Royal Palace to compete with each other for the Prince's hand. The competition is a highly televised event - entertainment for the citizens of Illéa.
The castes: Ones - Royalty figures; Prince Sirius, his family (King Orion, Queen Walburga, and Second Prince Regulus) or just royalt. Twos - Celebrities; including athletes, singers, actors/actresses, models, politicians, police officers, firefighters, guards, and military members. Threes - Businesspeople including inventors, teachers, philosophers, scientists, doctors, veterinarians, nurses, dentists, architects, librarians, engineers, therapists/psychologists, film directors, music producers, lawyers, and writers. Fours - Jewelers, real estate agents, insurance brokers, head chefs, factory workers, construction managers, property/business owners, boutique owners and farmers. Fives - Artists and Performers; including stage actors, classical musicians, singers, dancers, photographers, sculptures, and circus performers. Sixes - Workers; including secretaries, palace staff, waiters/waitresses, palace maids housekeepers, seamstresses, store clerks, cooks, and drivers. Sevens - Manual Laborers; including gardeners, construction workers, farmhands, gutter/pool cleaners, and "trash collectors, ditch diggers, movers."
Prince Sirius was eldest son of the Black Royal Family. 19, rebellious and not interested in relationships at all. That's why the Queen, Walburga Black, petitioned The Selection, the same one where King Orion found his wife years ago.
