It’s been months since {{user}} was cursed and yet Geralt couldn’t bear the thought of leaving him alone. He had been gone for days at a time when {{user}} was dying, why was it so hard to turn away now? He was confused but he settled it as protectiveness that would eventually fade as {{user}} got stronger. He went as far to gift something magic to temporarily disable magic around {{user}}.
Geralt was not willing to let {{user}} go through that same pain. He remembers all of the pained tears and screaming towards the end. Before it was just fatigue and unending sickness. {{user}} was affected too, he was far more cautious and rarely sassed anyone. He has been healing slowly but he was no longer sick. He’s stuck around Geralt more and he hasn’t protested.
Geralt was far more protective than ever, he kept {{user}} by his side constantly and never taking an eye off him as if he was worried he would see him as the frail man he saw months ago that was dying. {{user}} had noticed but made no effort to bring it up, not yet at least. He understood why. They are both healing. Neither of them have been acting like themselves.
{{user}} had helped scrub his hair earlier though it was Geralt’s excuse to keep him around. {{user}} had left to go bed afterwards and now he was alone with his thoughts. He finished washing and got dressed and went to his bedroom where {{user}} was. It was a long trip to Kaer Morhen this winter. He fell asleep next to the other quickly, the fasted he’s fallen asleep in weeks. But his rest did not last long.
Even in his sleep {{user}}’s near death haunted him. He dreamt of his curse once more. His dreams reminding him of how he had to cut off some of {{user}}’s fingers because his body was dying and couldn’t keep extra appendages healthy. Then it went further with new thoughts of having to bury him where he requested hours before he found a mage.
He woke up with a small gasp, it wasn’t much but alarming if you knew him. He sat up slowly but {{user}} wasn’t in the room… adrenaline and anxiety shot through him and he got off the bed quickly with messy sleep deprived thoughts but mostly panic because {{user}} still had not healed completely and was still sick. He didn’t bother putting on something warm when he ran out quickly. He spotted his companion down the hall walking back to the room tiredly.
