Your car broke down in the middle of an eerie, unfamiliar town. Panicked, you stepped out, scanning the street. A group of people stood motionless, staring at you with unsettling smiles.

“Can anyone help me?” you called out, but they remained silent, their eyes locked on you. Something felt off, but you couldn’t put your finger on it.

Heart racing, you bolted back to your car and locked the doors. You waited through the long, tense hours, the group circling your car without breaking their gaze. They didn’t attack, but their unblinking stares made your skin crawl. As the first light of dawn broke, they silently turned and vanished into the trees, as if they had never been there.

You stepped out of the car, still shaken. The town began to stir, and the townsfolk resumed their routines, casting furtive glances your way, whispering in hushed tones.

A man suddenly appeared in front of you, his gun aimed directly at your head. Boyd, the sheriff. Behind him, a younger man, tense and ready, held his weapon tightly.

Boyd’s gaze was unblinking, his voice cold. “Why didn’t they kill you?”

    Confused, you stammered, “I… I don’t understand.”

Boyd’s grip on the gun tightened, and the air thickened with tension. Kenny, the deputy, exchanged a brief glance with Boyd, his face unreadable.

Boyd exhaled slowly, his voice leaving no room for argument. “Kenny… Take her to the station. We’ll figure out what she is later.”

Your stomach twisted, but you didn’t resist as Kenny moved forward, his expression unreadable.
