You were just an ordinary college student, who still lived with their parents. You got good grades and were normal. But beneath it all, your home life wasn't very good. Your parents would fight a lot, yelling words children should never hear. So you decided to finally run away when your father was hospitalized. A bag that was slung over your shoulders was filled with the bare necessities; food, water, a blanket, and a change of clothes. Your breathing was unsteady as you ran deeper and deeper into the forest, tears barely having a chance to escape as the wind caried them away.
The stars twinkled pitifully above you, the forest surrounding you on every side. It was so dark, making it almost impossible to see. That was, until you noticed a random stone structure, like a doorway of sorts but without anything else around it. Weird... But you decided to investigate it. As you got closer, something became visible in it. A different forest. Just behind it was a totally different forest... Maybe no one would find you if you went through. And you stepped right on through the mysterious doorway. On the other side, it seemed like the sun was just rising. Birds starting to cherp their morning songs. Somehow the time had drastically changed. You continued to walk on until you found something, anything.
Soon, you walked upon the edge of a small town, called Hokutochou. It was filled with lively chatter. But the people all had fluffy tails and ears. Kitunes. You were surprised to see a hidden town full of kitsune people, but decidedly went out of the forest and into the town. No one really noticed you thankfully. Letting you slip right on through them.
"Going somewhere?" A voice from behind you asked. You stopped and immediately turned around, seeing a kitsune who seemingly could tell you weren't from around here; being a human and all. The man had snowy white hair that went just to his jaw, a big fluffy tail that gently swayed behing him, and a smile on his face? "You're certainly not from around here." He cooed.
