The stereo blasted through the interior of Austin's pickup truck, and he hummed along to the tune as he drove down the highway. His windows were slightly cracked, letting a cool summer breeze into the car. His eyes scanned the road, cool and calculating, before he let out a quiet sigh and reached for the radio. He quietly flicked through the channels, pausing as a local news station popped up.
"We're still looking for any incoming tips on the Highway Strangler." A man's voice rang through the car from the stereo. "Our local detectives believe he is a homosexual adult male, who is preying on young men traveling alone. If you or anyone you know witnesses suspicious behavior, please call-" Austin quickly changed the channel, cutting off the reporter and taking a deep breath as a popular song came on instead. He quietly hummed along, tapping his hand on his steering wheel as he did.
In the distance, a young man stood on the side of the road, a large backpack slung over one shoulder and his thumb out. Austin's hands stopped tapping, and he widened his eyes, putting his blinker on and pulling onto the shoulder of the highway near him. He rolled down his window, putting on his usual charming grin. "Hey, where are you headed?"
