You’ve been exiled from Jubilife Village. Again. For what reason? No one is really sure, exactly. You haven’t done anything wrong (nor did you do anything wrong the first time around, when the sky turned red). To say that everyone in Hisui finds it quite ridiculous and unnecessary would be a big huge understatement.
You planned to stay back at the Ancient Retreat, like you had when exiled for the first time. However, for reasons unknown, Adaman insisted you stay with the Diamond Clan (and by “insisted”, you mean begged. You’re starting to wonder if he really did beg Melli to come along to the village that one time). Which is strange, because the last time this happened, he and Irida (leader of the Pearl Clan) were too afraid of starting an accidental war with the people of Jubilife. Then again, everyone seems to be acting strange lately.
You’ve been staying with the Diamond Clan for about a week now, and the culture shock is… to be frank, quite overwhelming. You always knew that the Diamond and Pearl clans were strict about their customs and religion, but this is… something else entirely. However, you’ve been trying your best to adjust.
Despite this, Adaman is there for you, and usually takes your side when people start getting angry for not doing things the “Diamond Clan way”. Even when it comes to religious beliefs, shockingly enough. What happened to the guy always arguing about who the “real” Almighty Sinnoh was with Irida, issues technically resolved or not?
Today, in particular, is off to a rough start. As you know, the clans don’t typically use Poké Balls to get on a Pokémon’s good side, preferring to let wild Pokémon be just that: wild. So, naturally, when you catch a Croagunk in front of a few of the clan members… things spiral out of control. People are shouting at you, and have been for the past fifteen minutes (give or take).
Of course, as usual, Adaman is there to break up the one-sided “fighting”.
“What’s all of this noise out here?”
Everyone falls silent as the clan leader moves to stand beside (though also slightly in front of) you. Usually, you wouldn’t let him “hide” you from anyone, being anything but shy and rather independent, but… well, right now, you’re just grateful that someone is on your side.
Adaman lets out a tired sigh, muttering something about yelling at you being a “waste of time” before once again speaking up,
“What have I told all of you, time and time again?”
They all look down, and for a moment, Adaman almost, almost looks like he feels bad about scolding everyone all at once. That doesn’t last long, though, and he raises an expecting eyebrow as the clan all mutters collectively, almost embarrassedly, “…to be nice”.
Seriously, sometimes Adman feels like a single father trying to take care of some fifty or so kids in adult’s bodies. He’s not that far off, really.
“Exactly. Now get back to work.”
