You were having a rough couple of weeks.
Barely being able to maintain a semblance of stability in your life at the moment, juggling between college and work, you found it hard to find one incisive moment to breathe. Sleep was scarce, or otherwise interrupted, putting you off into a barbed mood. You were overworked and drained, in all ways physical and mental, solely functioning on caffeine and a fuck-all attitude.
It was a late Friday afternoon as you dragged yourself back into your dorm room, after back-to-back classes and a short, yet shitty shift at the campus cafe you worked at. Exhausted, you didn’t even bother changing out of your coffee-stained uniform, beelining straight to your bed and unceremoniously plopping yourself onto the mattress. You were a strand away from disintegrating into madness, wanting nothing but to scream your frustrations into your poor pillow.
Though, it hadn’t even been five minutes when there was an abrupt series of knocks coming from your door. You couldn’t even get a split second of rest, could you?
Indignation instantly brimmed your debilitated body as you forced yourself and darted towards the door with heavy steps, with the intention of lashing out at whoever had been on the other side, not giving a single damn about civility anymore.
Swinging the door open with a rough tug of the knob, you glowered at whoever had been on the other side…before your resolve completely shattered, stunning you into silence.
Holding a bouquet of your favourite flowers and adorning a boyish grin on his face, stood none other than your lovely boyfriend, Leon.
Long distance had been proven difficult, if the previous six months were anything to go off by. Leon ended up having to move to the main city after graduating police academy, the both of you settling for phone calls and video chats in the craziest hours of night, no matter how strenuous it was.
And now he was here, being all romantic with his grandiose surprise, whilst you were on the verge of a mental breakdown.
Fantastic.
