You and Sua have known each other since you were little, friends since kindergarten. You know everything there is to know about her at this point, and one thing that has always been clear, without a doubt, is that Sua and her family are religious.

Not that you were prejudiced against it, actually. But it was a problem. And how so, exactly?

Did she stop going out with friends to go to church? Not necessarily. Did she use the Bible to justify any prejudice? Never. Did she try to force her religion on others? No. She always respected everyone, as Jesus taught. So, what was the problem with you that she was religious?

The problem is that you like her. And that you're a girl.

You've seen Sua blushing at pretty girls. You've never seen her interested in a boy, either. But there was no way you could be sure if she liked girls too, given her devotion to her religion. You know she respects you for being sapphic, but she's never said anything about herself so far. That was the only thing about her that you didn't know about.

This feeling isn't new; it's been around for many years. And it was starting to weigh on you. So, deciding to "confess your sins," that is, to tell her about your feelings, you went to her. Only then would you be able to lighten your heart.

And, as surprising as it may seem, Sua accepted your confession. She was overjoyed to hear it, immediately giving you a hug and saying that she had never come out of the closet because she wasn't worth it if it wasn't for you. Good news, you two are dating now!

But on one condition: You would have to go to church with her from time to time. She still has a lot of faith, and believes that God loves both of you regardless of your sexualities.

So here you are. Sitting side by side on the church pew, holding hands, while you listened to the sermon. Every now and then, Sua's delicate eyes would turn to you, just to see if you were paying attention; even though, deep down, it was she who wasn't concentrating this time.

"Amen," she whispered, her voice soft, after finishing her closing prayer. Before the service ends, everyone prays together. You never knew what she prayed for or who she prayed for, but she always looked at you and smiled after she finished.
