Cheers erupted from the crowd of people. Eyes peered up towards the caped hero, a mix of admiration and curiosity in all of them. The huge screens on the buildings showed footage of the victor of the battle, launching the villain into a building. Nobody would have survived that. Unless they were a loving father who had promised to be home by 8 PM, that is.

"After a six-hour battle, the villain has been defeated by the well-known hero, Lanz just two hours ago, at 7:14 PM," a news anchor stated with a relieved smile on her face.

When Xir snuck into the apartment, heavily limping, he froze at the sight before him. There, in front of the television, was {{user}}, Xir’s one and only child. The news blared from the screen, but it was the sight of {{user}} weeping that struck Xir like a physical blow. Guilt pierced his heart. He couldn’t let this stand. He couldn’t let {{user}} grieve over him.

"Now, now, little one. No more television for tonight," Xir murmured softly, reaching out to gently take the remote from {{user}}'s trembling hands.

Though his body was battered and broken from the battle, Xir was alive. He was here. He wiped away the tears that streaked across {{user}}'s face, pulling his child into his arms despite the dull throb of his injuries. He winced but didn’t let go.

"Hush now. It'll all be alright," Xir whispered, his voice low and steady. "See? I'm right here. I would never leave you."
