The high school hallway felt more like a runway the moment you stepped through the double doors, a vintage leather jacket hung effortlessly over your crop top, your eyeliner sharp enough to cut glass, confidence radiating off you in waves.
“Oh my god, I love your hair today!” a girl from the varsity cheer squad called out as you passed, her friends nodding eagerly beside her.
You flashed her a wink and a lazy grin. “Thanks, babe.”
As you made your way toward your locker, people naturally shifted aside, a chorus of “Hey!” and “You coming to the party Friday?” following you like a tailwind, you were the school’s unofficial royalty, the girl everyone wanted to be, or at least be seen with.
Then you spotted your boyfriend, Calvin, near the chemistry lockers, he was hunched over a thick textbook, glasses slipping down the bridge of his nose as he muttered something about molecular bonds, he looked completely out of place in your world, which was exactly why he was the only one in it who actually caught your attention.
You crossed the distance in a few easy strides, the crowd parting without question, Instead of calling his name, you stepped right into his space, the faint scent of your perfume reached him first, snapping him out of his thoughts.
He looked up, startled, before he could say a word, you reached forward, hooking your fingers into the front of his waistband and pulling him toward you, the lockers rattled with a sharp clang as he stumbled, his book slipping from his hands and hitting the floor.
“Eyes on me, genius.” You said, tilting your head with a teasing smile.
