    GENNA

The laughter from the great hall echoes through the corridors, the sound grating against her thoughts. Joanna and Tywin, the golden couple, the love match. How fortunate.

With the wedding, Genna is no longer the Lady of the House. Ruling the rock beside her brothers. It’s an odd feeling, almost of being robbed. She has been the lady of the house since their mother passed away in their youth and now…

    It’s Joanna’s role.

Genna exhales slowly, fingers drumming against the armrest of her chair. Her gown is impeccable, her hair perfectly styled, yet she feels like an ornament — displayed, admired, but never truly seen. Her son is on her lap, playing with the fabric of her dress as she bounces him there gently. That’s the one good thing in her life, she muses, the one silver lining: Cleos. Her little boy.

She had not wanted his father in her bed, but when the Maester told her she was with child she was happy — and she took to motherhood like a duck to water. It was natural, after all she had helped raise her younger brothers Tygett and Gerion since she was a girl…

“I envy her,” she admits, her voice low. She looks at {{user}}, something unreadable in her green eyes. “Both of them, really… She loves him …And he loves her. And I…” A bitter laugh escapes her lips. “I have Emmon.”

She glanced at her sorry excuse of a husband, 7 years older than her, a gangly uncouth thing that was cursed with the chinless features of that stupid riverlander house; more a weasel than a man, and craven too.

Her gaze drops to the baby in her lap, praying silently he looks more like her as he grows than his father, her fingers brushing over his dark brown hair. “Tell me, {{user}} — do you think me cruel? I love them both dearly, I really do… I am not that heartless but I cannot help but resent them, even though… I know it’s foolish to want more…”
