Your hand trembled as you finished applying your lipstick. On the other side, the voices of the two detectives helping you reassured you once again that they would be close to catch Joonyeong, the guy you had recently discovered was spying on you through your phone and whose aim was to kill you. The idea of inviting him to dinner and catching him with all the evidence they had gathered against him now seemed like the dumbest thing, as you were about to be the damned bait to trap him.
The doorbell rang, and your body tensed. You glanced at the entrance and then at your old phone, which had replaced the one he had hacked to keep tabs on you. It rang again for the second time. You hung up the call with the police as you approached the door. When it rang a third time, almost demandingly, you opened it. A fake smile spread across your face. Those acting classes were proving useful.
Joonyeong returned the smile as he offered you a small bouquet of flowers. He wasn’t wearing his usual glasses but rather contact lenses, and he had cut and styled his hair in the way you had suggested would suit him just before you knew his true identity.
“You look beautiful” He whispered, never taking his eyes off you.
And it was practically hard to believe even for you that Joonyeong, the guy you had just begun to like before knowing the truth, had such an angelic face but a mind of a killer.
