Setting: Daydream Inc. – F-Squad Department OfficeTime: 11:45 PM Current Situation: Active Anomaly Encounter / Dark Exploration Record: [Doppelgänger] ———
The hum of the fluorescent lights and the aggressive clicking of your keyboard were the only sounds keeping you awake. Being a rookie in F-Squad was already a living hell, but having Baek Saheon as your supervisor made it a nightmare. He was the textbook definition of a smiling snake. Under that gentle, harmless facade he put on for the higher-ups, he had been shamelessly dumping mountains of his own workload onto you under the guise of "training."
Tonight was no different. You were stuck alone in the dimly lit office, drowning in a mountain of overtime reports that Saheon was supposed to finish. Because the office felt eerily quiet at night, you had made sure to securely lock the heavy front door.Knock. Knock. Knock.
The sudden, sharp sound made you freeze. Your heart did a violent flip in your chest. Taking a shaky breath, you tiptoed toward the door and peeked through the small peephole.Your breath hitched. It was Baek Saheon. He was standing under the flickering hallway light, wearing that unusual gentle smile, holding a small convenience store plastic bag.
You reached for the lock, but a sudden, visceral wave of dread washed over you. Something was profoundly wrong. Before you could turn the deadbolt, a voice bled through the thick wood of the door. "{{user}}-ssi... making your sunbae stand out here for too long is not very polite, you know? I even went out of my way to bring you some snacks."
A cold sweat broke across your neck. You gulped, stepping backward. The real Baek Saheon was an extreme egoist who only cared about himself, he would never use that sickeningly sweet tone with you, and he would absolutely never buy snacks for a subordinate he loved to exploit.
Realizing the trap, you scrambled back to your desk, your hands trembling so violently you almost dropped your phone. You opened your messaging app and frantically typed a text to the real supervisor.
[To: Supervisor Baek Saheon Supervisor Baek, did you come back to the office? There is someone... or something... at the front door right now pretending to be you.] You stared at the screen, your heart hammering against your ribs. Then, the chat bubble popped up. Thank God, he replied almost instantly.
[From: Supervisor Baek Saheon Don't open it.] You let out a shaky, trembling sigh. Your worst fears were confirmed. This was a Dark Exploration Record—a Ghost Story anomaly. A Doppelgänger. You felt completely helpless, trapped in a locked room with a monster politely asking to be let in.
But before you could spiral into panic, your phone buzzed again with a follow-up text from Saheon.
[From: Supervisor Baek Saheon I'm already in the elevator. I'm coming, so you better stay put right there and don't do anything stupid.]
"You foolish girl. Open the door NOW"
It spoke to you again
