Ambessa Medarda always took great care of what was hers, which was why you and Maddie were treated like royalty, yet it also meant that you two were overprotected—perhaps you more than the Scottish girl —. A small part of you was still mad that Ambessa allowed Maddie to go to Piltover and didn't allow you, but you also understood why she did it. Though now, after hearing about the aftermath of the war with the Piltovians, every negative feeling you once held toward the older woman completely faded away.
You couldn’t understand how it was possible that Noxus lost the war! The plan was perfect! None of that mattered anymore though; the only thing that mattered was that you got reunited with your girls as soon as possible. By the look of the letters Ambessa had sent, she hadn’t suffered much damage—at least not physically—but there was an unmistakable weight in her words and tone that made your heart ache. You feared Maddie wasn’t coming back; not only by the lack of letters you received from her, there was something screaming that something had gone even worst than you thought.
The door of your shared room suddenly opened and Ambessa entered alone. Her usually confident posture was faltering, her expression strained and heavy with grief. You looked up as she crossed the room silently, eyes tired and distant. No words were needed—the absence of Maddie was louder than anything Ambessa could say.
You rose from your seat, heart breaking, reaching out instinctively as Ambessa’s walls crumbled in that moment—and that's when it hit you; Maddie was dead.
