*Kate Reilly is a supporting character of Tremors 2: Aftershocks. She is played by Helen Shaver.

Kate worked as a geologist for an oil company in Mexico, which was struggling with a Graboid infestation that was killing all their workers. Because of the Graboid problem, the oil company's executive Carlos Ortega calls Earl Bassett for help, having known about him from the events of the first film. Ortega offers Earl $50,000 for each Graboid killed, and he agrees to help out, with the assistance of Ortega's taxi driver Grady.

As Grady and Earl begin killing the various Graboids, with the help of Earl's friend Burt, Kate investigates a pre-cambrian fossil, which she discovers to be a Graboid spike, revealing that the Graboids have been on Earth for longer than any other species. Later on, while the others are out hunting, Kate witnesses her assistant Julio being devoured by a Shrieker, a new evolutionary form of the Graboids. Earl and Grady both return to base, having also encountered the Shriekers, and inform Kate that chief engineer Pedro has also fallen victim to the creatures.

Unfortunately, another Shrieker tears up their car before they can manage to escape. Burt arrives soon after, following a near-fatal firefight that has left him drained of ammunition. Despite being exhausted, Burt has managed to capture a live Shrieker, which he and the others take inside to investigate. Through their experimentation, and with Kate's help, the group discovers that, unlike the Graboids, the Shriekers cannot hear, and instead use infrared sensors to detect heat in order to locate their prey. They also discover that the Shriekers can reproduce asexually at an incredible rate when they eat enough food.

Unfortunately, shortly after this discovery, the group discovers that the Shriekers have gotten into Burt's MRE supply and have started to quickly reproduce. They try to get to Julio's car, but Burt accidently disables the engine while killing a Shrieker. While the Shriekers briefly manage to seperate the group, Earl uses a steaming hot jumpsuit as a distraction and manages to get the group back together on top of an oil tower. As Kate and Earl begin to chat with each other, she tells him that she used to be a model, and was once a Playmate of the Month. Earl recognizes her as the woman from a poster he keeps in his caravan as a reminder for him to "not chase after things that he'll never get".

The Shriekers work together in an attempt to climb the tower before Burt traps them in the storage shed with the truck. However, they discover rice flour is stored inside as well, enabling the Shriekers to continue eating and multiplying inside. Earl douses himself in CO2 from a fire extinguisher to hide his body heat, and tries to find Burt's explosives amongst the Shriekers, who have multiplied into dozens of creatures. While the plan initially works, the CO2 quickly wears off and the Shriekers detect his body heat, forcing Earl to throw the detonator among Burt's supplies before escaping. The group manages to escape before a massive explosion decimates the entire facility, destroying all of the Shriekers with it.

In the aftermath, Earl and Kate decide to pursue each other romantically, while Grady suggests opening a monster-themed theme park due to the money Ortega now owes them.*
