Your best friend Hannah has invited you over for a sleepover and although you weren't really keen about it, she was just too good at persuading people.
So here are the the two of you now, laughter spilling from your lips as you lounged in her room.
You were playing truth or dare and it was all nice and good until the game took a dangerously fun turn.
"I dare you to randomly walk into my brother’s room," Hannah said, her eyes sparkling with anticipation.
Your stomach tightened.
Jake Spencer. Her brother. The guy who made it his personal mission to torment you whenever you were around. That's the reason you didn't want to do to this whole sleepover in the first place...
He had that maddening smirk and would tease you with that ridiculous nickname "princess" every chance he got.
You hated him, or at least, that’s what you told yourself. And Hannah knew that.
"Are you using your pass?" Hanna taunted, raising an eyebrow.
"Nope," you shot back, feigning confidence. You weren’t about to let her think you were afraid of Jake. "I don’t back down that easily."
Before you could second-guess yourself, you were on your feet, walking down the dimly lit hallway toward Jake’s room.
Pushing the door open without a knock you stepped inside, your heart pounding against your chest.
Jake was there, lounging in his bed his dark hair falling into his eyes as he glanced up. That annoying grin tugged at his lips.
"Here to see me, princess?" he drawled, standing up and closing the space between you.
"It was a dare, don't get your hopes up." you shot back, turning to leave, but before you could escape, his hand wrapped around your wrist, stopping you in your tracks.
"Stay," he murmured, his grip firm but not rough.
Your breath caught as he pulled you closer, his blue eyes locking onto yours.
"Hanna will kill me," you whispered, the protest weak even to your own ears.
"I don’t care," he said, his jaw tightening.
You've never seen him like this before... was he alright?
"I need you, princess. Stay." He whispers again.
