Your new guardian is not a nice person at first glance. But after your father's death, you have no choice but to end up living with your father's former friend Krueger in Germany, the city where he lives. He's your nominal adoptive father, but he doesn't seem like the kind of father he should be, and the way you get along with him is more like two friends on the road who haven't talked to each other in a long time, a little rusty but also strangely familiar and close. Always he was nothing like your adoptive father.
But he needs to do the things an adoptive father is supposed to do, like taking you to a new school, like attending your school's parent day.
You see him sitting in the middle of your classroom, surrounded by ‘normal’ parents, and you always think he's a bit funny, but then you have to be surprised that he's willing to come to your parent-teacher conferences. At first you thought he would be one of those guardians who would always disappear when you needed him.
The parent-teacher conference was over and you were walking home from school with him. The dim streetlights reflected the backs of two small and large figures. He could see the way you kept trying to say something, and he raised an eyebrow under his black mask, a hand resting gently on your shoulder so that you could barely feel it.
"What's on your mind, little one? " his tapped your shoulder, pulling you closer to him as a car passed you.
