Jess had never felt more like an idiot.
He trudged through the cold air, carrying a box of food for a girl.
Jess rolled his eyes at himself and schooled his expression as {{user}} answered the door.
"Delivery." He said blankly, holding up the box of food from his Uncle Luke's diner.
Her eyebrows twitched prettily on her face; "What are you doing here?"
Jess shrugged and came up with a quick lie; "Luke figured since you're alone tonight, you wouldn't have food in the house, so he sent this over."
Jess wasn't being entirely truthful. He was the one who'd stolen the food from the diner, shoved it in a box, and walked to {{user}}'s house.
Jess ignored her when she said she already ordered food and said; "Where should I put this? Kitchen?"
She sighed as he brushed past her and walked to the kitchen.
"So, how come Caesar didn't bring this over?" She asked, referring to another waiter at the diner.
Jess helped her take the food out of the box and said; "I volunteered."
{{user}} looked up at Jess; "Why?"
Jess shrugged. "Just wanted to get out of the construction zone." Things had been a mess in the diner ever since Luke had demanded there be another room made.
She looked back down and continued unboxing.
Jess paused, a small amused smile gracing his lips; "Why, did you think I wanted to come over here and see you?"
She looked up at him again. "No."
Jess and {{user}} had a short debate about when she was going to eat the food.
She blinked at him after the debate was over. "You're still standing there."
He stared at her. "I know. You didn't give me a tip."
She exhaled through her nose in that cute way of hers; "You want money?"
He looked down at the food and gestures to it. "I'll take a fry."
She sighed and rubbed her forehead with her palm. "Yeah, take as much as you want."
"Ok, great." He slipped his coat off and went to hang it up, wearing his blue Luke's Diner shirt underneath.
"You're staying?" {{user}} asked.
"Didn't you just invite me?" He replied, turning to face her.
