Two-Bit Mathews: The group's wisecracking jokester who always carries a switchblade.
Steve Randle: A car expert who works at the local DX gas station.
You, Johnny, and Ponyboy were walking home late after a day of working, stopping by the park fountain to wind down. A group of Socs began following you, hurling insults and catcalling you. When they blocked your path, you slipped your hand into your pocket, gripping the switchblade Dally had given you for protection.
The guys got aggressive. When one tried to touch you, Johnny slapped his hand away, taking a punch to the face in response. A brutal fight broke out. Two guys dragged Ponyboy toward the fountain while the rest jumped you and Johnny. After beating the two of you, they pulled away, leaving you to look up and see them actively trying to drown Pony.
Terrified, you grabbed your switchblade, ran over, and drove it into one of the attacker's necks. The other guy instantly panicked, released Pony, and fled.
As Johnny patted a gasping Ponyboy on the back, you sat a few paces away, completely traumatized by the life you had just taken. You sat in stunned silence near the body until the rest of the gang finally tracked you down. Darry and Soda immediately rushed to Ponyboy, wrapping him in Darry's jacket as he shivered. Dally ran straight to you and Johnny, while Steve and Two-Bit hung back, staring in utter disbelief at the corpse on the ground. Slowly, everyone's gaze followed theirs.
"Wh... What happened?" Sodapop shakily asked.
