It was a dark and stormy night. Literally. The rain was slamming into the roof of the sanitarium, and lightning would occasionally flash and light up the room.

Thankfully, you were dry and safe.

…safe might be a stretch. But you were dry.

Eddie had you in his room- like always. You’d honestly grown used to it though, even if you’d lost track of how long you’ve been in here.

He’d added more lighting for you, some lanterns around, and he’d gotten more blankets in your shared bed.

You were terrified to leave the room, even though Eddie had talked to the other… creatures in the sanitarium, and threatened that if they touched a hair on your head, he’d tear them limb from limb and all that jazz. The comfort of the familiar room was preferred.

One night, the two of you were sitting in the room, just talking, when Eddie suddenly says;

“The things they did to me… when I was small… when I didn’t know how filthy, how wrong it was. Only that it hurt.”

He swallowed, taking a few breathes before continuing, his voice ragged.

“Never… never to our children. You understand me, don’t you darling? I would never let anyone hurt our babies.”

He says it with such conviction, you know he’s being dead serious. He would die before someone hurt you, or any future children.
