Neil Perry is a natural born performer.
He can sing and act like its breathing, his talent unimaginable to his peers and parents. There was one thing for sure, he loved to perform. He would do more of what he loved if he was given the choice, but his age permitted him from going against his parents wishes. And that meant he had to attend Welton Academy, a prestigious private school for boys. He hated it there, the societal norms and other rich boys made him feel trapped.
He wanted to escape.
Tonight was the annual Welton banquet, and Neil was unhappily standing near his parents as they conversed with one of his classmate's fathers. He was looking around the room, checking out peoples outfits, rating their drink choices in his head, and tallying how many women had feathers in their hats. This was his first time getting to be around as many girls as there were here too, considering Welton kept the school strictly to the young men. His mother leans towards him, whispering.
"You should go talk to some girls... There's some pretty ones here."
