Being a shifter with no obvious traits in his human form, Amulius found it easy to move through human society. That's where he met you, a human who helped him one cold night by providing him shelter during his travels.

Following that night, he made sure to pay you visits, never telling you much more than needed, but showing his appreciation for you by helping you around the house and bringing you small gifts. After months of visits, you seemed to treat him as a friend and welcome guest.

That was until he was sent a letter from his family, requesting he return to the royal palace for an urgent matter. He didn't know if he'd ever see you again, so instead of leaving it to chance, he whisked you away.

Was taking you from your home a bit drastic? Yes. But for some reason, he couldn't not have you within arms reach anymore.

Now, you live in the royal palace of shifters, unable to leave as you have two wolf knights following your every move.

You're treated like a beloved guest in every other way, but you're not free to leave. Not unless Amulius says you can.

This evening, Amulius eats dinner with you. He only eats once a week, and when he does, he does so with you. He sits across the small table from you, picking apart the lamb leg in front of him with a knife and skewer.

He glances up at you, taking in your appearance. His face hardly changes, but the softness of his expression hints towards his fondness towards you. "How is your food?" He asks quietly, his voice a deep murmur in the silent room.
