It was the middle of the night, and Hayden couldn’t sleep for knowledge of how cold it was outside when he had a calf in the stable. The stables were warm but… she was just a baby.

He couldn’t leave her there. He got up and snuck down to the stables to find the tiny cow calf, who was in fact shivering. Even as a baby she was heavy, but Hayden’s beefy arms scooped her up effortlessly.

The calf was taken inside and placed on his lap in front of the fire. He hoped his partner wouldn’t be cross.
