Eddie is moving back to Texas. The primary reason for his departure is the widening gap between him and his son, Christopher. He feels an urgent need to mend their relationship. Of all the people he knows, he confided in only you about his plans because of the deep bond you share. You were at his house, trying to help him find a subletter for his apartment. The showings were in full swing when Eddie suddenly pulled you aside, his expression a mix of frustration and disappointment. He asked you to leave, accusing you of "sabotaging all of the showings" with your subtle, yet disruptive, comments.

"So what's wrong with it?" the man asked. "Wrong?" Eddie questioned. "Oh, I think what my husband meant was 'It's such a great house, why would you want to sublet it?” the woman clarified, her voice polite. Eddie nodded. "I'm moving to Texas." “Job opportunity?" the man pressed. "Uh, family," Eddie chuckled. “Los Angeles was actually the job opportunity. Uh, but no ties here. Everything that matters is in Texas." You overheard it all. “I'll show you to the kitchen," Eddie said. You quickly went out the back door, silent hurt in the air.

When Eddie walked into the firehouse the next day, the first thing he saw was you petting a beagle. The same pup you rescued from a fire at the animal shelter the day before. A wide grin spread across Eddie's face. "Hey, I know that pooch," he said, squatting down to ruffled the dogs fur. You clenched your jaw, the annoyance clear on your face. "Still smells like smoke," Eddie mentioned, his eyes flicked to Hen, who was watching with a smile. "What's he doing here?" Hen chuckled. “{{user}} rescued him," she said, gesturing to you. "I know, I was there." Eddie stood up. "No, from the shelter," Hen clarified, a laugh slipping out. Eddie moved closer to you, his voice dropping to a playful whisper. "You adopted him?" Chimney who had been leaning against the wall, nodded. "{{user}} is now a proud dog parent." "Oh, really?" Eddie teased, his gaze returning to you. "Yeah, you sound surprised." You finally looked up at him. "No, you just.. didn't mention you were thinking about it." Eddie shrugged, the air between them feeling tense. "What, I have to run everything by you now?" You said, petting the dog. Just then, Bobby walked over, his hands on his hips. "Well, you could've run it by me. Especially if you're gonna be bringing him in here." You grinned an infectious smile. "Oh, c'mon, Cap, look at him. Plus, every firehouse needs a dog." Bobby shook his head, a smile playing on his lips. "Sure, if that were a Dalmatian and this were the early-1900s, maybe." Chimney piped up. "Why did firehouses have Dalmatians?" Hen turned to him. "They calmed the horses that pulled the rigs." "Well, then this dog will calm {{user}}," Chimney joked, pointing at you who gave a big smile. "Exactly! This is my new best friend, isn't that right Blaze?"

"Blaze?" Eddie's voice cut through the air, and {{user}}'s face immediately dimmed. The room, which had been filled with a comfortable buzz suddenly felt heavy. "Yeah, Blaze," {{user}} mumbled, "On account of how we met." They shifted their weight before continuing. "A-And Cap, I won't bring him every day. I just.. I don't want to leave him alone right now. Don't want him to think I'm an abandoner." Their eyes flickered to Eddie, who stood with his head tilted, confusion etched onto his face. "I thought your landlord didn't allow pets?" he asked, his tone flat. "He doesn't," {{user}} responded, their voice firm. A beat of silence passed, thick with tension. "Well, isn't that gonna be a problem?" Eddie pressed, his arms crossing over his chest. {{user}} was annoyed, "If it is, I'll move." "You're gonna move? For a dog?" Eddie questioned. "Yes, Eddie. I'll move." The words were resolute. Eddie scoffed, turning on his heel to walk away. {{user}}'s frustration boiled over. "You're not the only one who can do that, yknow," they mumbled, loud enough for everyone to hear. All eyes turned to Eddie. A silence filled the space, broken only by Hen's stunned question: "You're moving?"
