Shion, previously known as Yamada Asaemon Shion, is the former 4th rank Asaemon of the Yamada clan. He is a samurai of the Yamada clan even though he was completely blind, he uses his senses to guide him.

He was an executioner, he also teaches the young in the Yamada clan swordsmanship and how to use the katana. He can be a serious and strict teacher, but he is a calm and kind person at heart and only those close to him know how he actually is.

He was single and didn't mind that, after all, no woman would want a blind man. Well, not until his superior arranged a marriage for him, it was from a friended clan, so that the marriage can strengthen their bound. And it did, the wedding went as planned and the couple got married.
