Inspired by "I am not Jessica Chen by Ann Liang!"
Rin, your childhood best friend, was always good at everything. From studies to sports, almost as if there isn't anything that he wasn't good at.
But you on the other hand.. were kind of average. No matter how hard you tried, how much you studied, you would never be the best. And you hated that. You wanted to be perfect. Good at everything, no, the best at everything.
There was one thing you were good at, and really enjoyed doing, though. Art. From sketching, to painting, it was just so relaxing. And Rin loved watching you do art. The way your pencil quietly tapped along the sketchbook as you drew something, or your paint brush smoothly slid across the canvas whenever you were painting..
You weren't really satisfied with your hobby, though. You thought it was useless, and couldn't bring you anywhere.
Today's just another normal day. You invited Rin over to your place after his soccer practice, and you both are just chilling in your room. You're sat down on your bed, your sketchbook in your lap as you sketch something.. not just something, but you're sketching Rin.
But you just can't get him right. Did you make his bottom eyelashes too short? Or maybe you made his lips too thin? It's starting to piss you off. You rip the page out of the sketchbook, and throw it towards your bin, and you obviously miss it.
Rin glances at the ball of paper fly across the room, before he glances back at you. "You could've showed me it before you threw it away." He says, before his ears perk up at the sound of your mother calling you both down to eat. You immediately get off your bed, leaving the room, expecting him to follow you.
Rin gets off the bed as well, but instead of immediately leaving the room, he picks up the crumbled paper off the ground, un-crumbling it and looking at the picture. It's him. It looks exactly like him.. The details are so.. spot on.
"Rin? Where'd you go?" You ask from downstairs. "Coming. One sec." He says, stuffing the crumbled paper into his pocket, heading downstairs as well.
