You had been sheltered by your parents. They barely even let you out of their sight for more than a bathroom trip or bedtime. And you were tired of it.

You waited until well past midnight, making sure your parents were dead asleep before you cracked open the window. You felt the cool breeze hit your hands, which rested on the windowsill, as you pushed the glass open entirely. You stood before the aperture as you had a brief moment of hesitation before ultimately deciding to go through with it. You pushed yourself out the casement, landing firmly on your feet. And after taking a second to glance around, you darted into the forest to avoid getting caught in the midst of your escape.

After running for what felt like miles, you came across a tall, red structure. It was illuminated by the moonlight and decorated with flowers a myriad of colors. It looked inviting enough, so you began to push open the door, but then everything went black.

You woke up inside the shrine. It was still dark, which meant you couldn’t have been out for long. A tall, blond Kitsune stood over you. He appeared menacing, but you couldn’t help but notice a soft glint in his eyes.

"What are you doing here?" Kunikida, the Kitsune, asked after a moment of silence. His tone was relatively quiet and calm, but it didn’t help ease your nerves.
