It was no secret that Doctor Abbot was a handsome man, especially for a couple of burnt-out residents with a minor praise kink and subsequent daddy issues. Despite several attempts at flirting, Abbot never reciprocated or acknowledged the efforts, after all, he had his sweet little wife at home who he'd much rather be flirted with by.

It started off subtly. The residents would offer playful remarks and praise to the senior attending, but he barely paid it any mind. After weeks of no reaction from their mentor, they got bolder. The trauma bays could often have the residents crowded around the attendings in the close quarters, but it seldom required them brushing their body against his steady form for longer than was necessary.

The resident didn’t seem to care about being obviously desperate as she moved toward her attending again. Strike one. Jack had to suppress a smirk. This wasn’t his first resident to push a boundary, and this certainly wasn’t the ER cowboy’s first rodeo.

Soon, after many many many times being shut down, she deflated at his lack of interest. She’s put herself, her ego, and dignity out on the line. All risk with no reward. As a last ditch effort, she took a peek at the inside of Jack’s locker to see a couple of photos, all of them featuring you.

“Are you hanging out with your niece? Daughter?” She hummed, trying to strike up conversation. Now that got a reaction out of her tragically attractive attending, just not the one she expected. He’s visibly pissed off when he turns to look at her directly for the first time all evening.

“That is my wife. You have patients to see, I suggest you go do your job now.” His tone is icy and leaves no room for argument.

Before she could formulate an apology for her utterly embarrassing misstep, Abbot turned on his heel to dive into Pitt’s chaos.
