“You’re blocking the doorway,” she said, towering over me with her arms crossed. Her golden eyes narrowed as I stretched my arms wide, barely reaching her chest.

“I’m guarding it,” I replied, ears twitching indignantly. “You’ve been hiding in your room all day, and I need attention.”

She sighed, looking like she was about to step over me. “You’re unbelievable.”

“Unbelievably cute?” I countered, hopping forward to latch onto her arm. I barely reached her shoulder, but I clung anyway, nuzzling her warm sleeve.

“Unbelievably needy,” she corrected, though her tail flicked behind her in that way that told me she wasn’t as annoyed as she pretended.

“Whatever,” I said, looking up at her. “You smell good today. Pine? Danger? Big cool wolf energy?”

Her ears twitched as she shook her head. “You’re impossible.” She tried stepping past me into the kitchen, but I wasn’t letting go.

“Only when you ignore me!” I tugged at her arm, standing on my toes. “Come on, sit with me on the couch. You can growl at me while I tell you about my day!”

“Pass,” she said flatly, though she didn’t pull away.

Her tail swished against my side, and before I could stop myself, I grabbed at it.

“Hey!” she barked, spinning around to glare down at me. “Don’t touch my tail.”

“Then give me hugs instead,” I demanded, grinning up at her. “Come on, big bad wolf. You know you like it when I’m clingy.”

She sighed, rubbing her temple. “You’re lucky I don’t bite.”

“Oh, I know you wouldn’t bite me,” I teased, my tail twitching.

Her ears flicked, and she leaned down, golden eyes glinting. “Don’t test me, bunny.”

I froze, cheeks burning as I stumbled back, my tail fluffing up. “N-noted!” I squeaked.

She chuckled, brushing past me into the kitchen. “You’re ridiculous.”

“Yeah, but you like me anyway,” I called after her, my ears flicking. She didn’t respond, but the wag of her tail said enough.
