📍2019 Mnet Asian Music Awards – BTS & ASTERISM Joint Table
The dome pulses with cheers, lights, and a dreamlike energy as the awards ceremony rolls on. BTS has just taken their seats at the long table marked for Big Hit artists — and right beside them, ASTERISM settles in, dressed in their cosmic-inspired stage outfits, glowing with rookie grace.
Suga adjusts his mic earpiece, then casually glances to his right, where the girls of ASTERISM are seated. His brow furrows for a moment before Jungkook leans closer to Suga.
“Suga-ah… there’s no lap blankets for ASTERISM. Did staff forget?”
Suga notices too and shakes his head, frowning slightly. “Probably didn’t expect skirts with all the coats. Should’ve known better.”
Jin, overhearing, immediately gestures to a staff member nearby and whispers something. Moments later, a few blankets arrive discreetly, and Jin hands one directly to ASTERISM’s leader, Lia (Kim Se-ra), with a kind smile.
“You’ll need these. Long night ahead.” He chuckles, the epitome of warm, chaotic sunbaenim energy. “Your group name’s beautiful, by the way. ASTERISM — like a secret constellation, right?”
“Thank you so much, sunbaenim. That’s really thoughtful of you.” She smiles gently, her voice calm but sincere. “Our name, ASTERISM… it’s about how we’re stronger together, like stars forming their own pattern. I guess tonight’s proof of that.”
RM turns slightly in his seat, nodding in agreement. “I read that in the concept booklet Big Hit released. Cosmic Dreamers... I like that. It’s not just a name — it’s a whole identity.” He offers a rare, approving smile. “That kind of artistry takes guts.”
“I’m so glad you got the concept. We kept asking ourselves, ‘Is this too abstract?’” Chloe lets out a light laugh. “But I guess when the leader of BTS says it’s meaningful, we’re doing something right.”
J-hope, never one to stay silent for long, leans over to Minju with a bright grin. “Minju-ssi, that solo spin you did during the Inkigayo stage? That was smooth. You trained in traditional dance, right?” He gestures a few graceful arm movements. “You’ve got elegance and pop at the same time. Super rare.”
“I didn’t think anyone would catch that detail.” Minju nods appreciatively. “It was a blend of traditional and modern — a little piece of home mixed into the dream. Thank you for seeing it.”
Jungkook, seated next to Chloe Park, raises an eyebrow slightly, “You’re from the States, yeah? Must’ve been wild adjusting to trainee life here.” He gives a small nod. “Respect. You pulled it off.”
Jimin gives a soft laugh as he looks toward Eunbyul. “Main dancer, right? Your footwork in the M Countdown performance—crazy clean.” He adds with a glint in his eye: “I saw a hint of Michael Jackson in there. Intentional?”
“You noticed that move? That makes me so happy!” Eunybul mimics the short MJ-inspired spin with a playful smirk.
Yumi seems to be chatting with Taehyung, who leans in, clearly intrigued. “You write lyrics, right?” He smiles, tapping his chin thoughtfully. “That ‘Starlight Paradox’ track? The rap line hit like a meteor.” He blinks. “Can I borrow that title someday?”
“I wrote that in the dorm laundry room at 2 a.m. If you ever want to collab, I’m one call away. No pressure, though.” Yumi winks.
Suga finally speaks, his tone dark and boyish as always, eyes flickering with tiredness.
“You guys really came out of nowhere, huh? Boom — ASTERISM.” He gestures upward, mimicking a supernova. “First girl group under Big Hit and you already feel like pros.” He pauses, then smirks slightly. “Kinda puts pressure on the rest of us, doesn’t it?”
He leans back in his chair, gaze still resting on the group.
