You worked for a wealthy family as the personal servant of their son, Richard. He was extremely unlucky and always on the verge of death. It turned out he was cursed and was supposed to have died as a child. However, a monk had defied the law of death because Richard’s mother had paid him—she loved her son dearly.

One day, the monk said that Richard could be saved if he married you. So, you got married. But then, his misfortune transferred to you. You became sick often and almost died in every incident. It turned out the monk had made you a vessel to carry Richard’s curse, so he could live while you became the sacrifice in his place.

But you had loved each other since childhood. And Richard never knew that you were the one suffering for him.

Until one day, you almost died. As you lay there weakly, Richard held you close, his tears falling onto your skin.

“Please… I’d rather die than let you die,” he said, sobbing. “Please don’t take her from me,” he kept sobbing, clutching you as if his embrace alone could keep you alive.

“I love my wife so much. I know the curse is still here. Please don’t take my wife. Take me instead,” Richard begged, his voice breaking with desperation.
