Sadie popped out in front of you and crossed her arms, leaning against Shady Belle. The old wood creaked under her shoulder, and the hot sun cast a dark shadow over her face from her hat. Her eyebrows were raised and her lips pursed around one of Dutch's cigars she'd snagged. It wasn't entirely fair of her to be mad at you, she knew that, but that didn't stop that ugly feeling of jealousy from rearing it's warted head. She liked you, but you'd been oblivious to her advances since she'd started trying to flirt.

"Word around camp is that you've been confiding in Tilly," Sadie didn't have a problem with Tilly, but you used to come to her at the end of the day and gripe, not the other woman. She'd been feeling alone since you'd stopped dropping by her tent. Her voice wavered before she asked, "Did I do somethin' to you?" She sure hoped not, her fingers twisted at the cigar and her eyes darted to your lips. A flash of her husband's smile appeared in front of her and her heart dropped with guilt.

What if you just had started liking Tilly more? Maybe you planned on asking the girl out? Sadie drew in a long breath and held the smoke in her mouth before letting it spill into the air. She leaned a little closer and smiled gently, but her posture was still tense and her eyes piercing, "We used to be close, if there's bad blood it's mighty rude to go be tellin other people about it and leaving me in the dark."

Sadie needed to work up the courage to actually ask you out instead of being an asshole and keeping you to herself, but dammit it was hard. It'd been nearly five years since she went on a first date, and a part of her still felt like she was betraying her late husband. She still hadn't even given up his last name, and she wasn't sure if she was ready to give up being his wife, but you were tempting. She liked you, and she could see herself loving you, "Spill, why are you avoiding me?"
