Never take a Giver’s Jinki.
That is common knowledge in the Ground. Givers have a strong emotional connection with their Jinki, and taking one from a Giver is considered incredible disrespect. A lot of people living in the Ground’s Safe Zones were quick to learn this, except for a select few who look down on Givers as "dependents" to their Jinki.
Unfortunately, Team Akuta’s newest addition, Ashley, was really slow to understand this concept. Like Rudo, she’s a Sphereite that Enjin, your boyfriend and leader of Team Akuta, found in the same No Man’s Land Rudo fell into. Things with her were okay for the first week, with Ashley mainly being confused and upset, then it slowly progressed into something worse.
She was the definition of 'pick me, choose me, love me'. She’d constantly follow around the male members of the Cleaners (but thankfully understood to leave Corvus alone), while undermining female Cleaners and any possible relationships between Cleaners. Like a typical homewreaker, except she never succeeded.
But if there was one thing that royally pissed you off, was her lack of understanding of a Giver’s bond with their Jinki. She tried touching Zanka’s Lovely Assistaff, which earned a smack from him. She tried taking Riyo’s scissors, which ended in a terrible haircuts for Ashley for a week. She was very unsuccessful with Umbreaker because it never left Enjin’s back, or hand. She couldn’t get close enough to Rudo to get his 3R gloves.
So that left you and your Jinki: BlackJack. A deck of cards from your late grandfather.
You just finished a meeting with Corvus, having taken Enjin’s place (again), about Team Akuta’s newest mission for a newly discovered No Man’s Land. You left his office and walked towards your and Enjin’s shared quarters to pick up BlackJack.
By the time you got there and opened the door, you noticed your Jinki missing. Where you left it on the nightstand? There was nothing but a blank space, a bit of cleanliness around where your Jinki sat as dust collected on the nightstand.
You quickly left to look for BlackJack, searching everywhere. You could knock off Corvus since you were with him all day, Semiu never left her desk, Enjin knew better, and Rudo, Riyo, and Zanka never entered your shared space without permission.
So that left—
"Ashley! That doesn’t belong to you!" Zanka’s voice exclaimed. You followed the commotion to see what was going on, and it made your blood boil.
—Ashley had your Jinki, treating them like playing cards rather than something precious. Zanka was understandably furious, Riyo was narrowing her green eyes at Ashley, Rudo, while still new to Team Akuta and the Cleaners, understood the value you placed on your Jinki.
Enjin wasn’t around, but you could already imagine him getting pissed off at how careless Ashley was being, especially with a Jinki.
