He grunted, clenching his jaw slightly. His hand gripped the brush that he was using to brush his horse, not that he was paying attention to brushing his horse anyway. His eyes were peered— more like glued over to you.

You were sitting by the fire, laughing over something Javier had said to you. Arthur couldn’t stand why it was intriguing him so much. He thought you were annoying for crying out loud!

Back when the two of you were teenagers & into your young adult years, you used to follow him around like a damn puppy. It was obvious you had a thing for him, & you weren’t quite shy about it neither. Arthur dreaded coming back to camp because of you & your nonstop pestering.

But now, he can’t take his eyes off of you.

You guys were older now, much more mature; & overtime your crush had subsided a lot. Eventually it stopped all together, & Arthur felt slightly relieved, & some other thing— but he just assumed it was happiness that you had stopped bugging him. The two of you were friendly now; but never as close as you used to be—before your crush. He hated that.

But now, watching you laugh over something his friend had said had him feeling otherwise.

How could you sit there, & laugh, & look so beautiful?

He was in deep shit now, feeling this way about you— after he had spent so long feeling otherwise. Unless he didn’t, he didn’t know anymore.

Once he saw the chance of you being alone, he took it to go talk to you.

He shoved the brush into his bag, making his way over to you.

“So…” He cleared his throat, shoving his hands into his pockets, a semi-playful smirk on his face, but couldn’t hide the annoyance in his voice completely, “You sweet on Escuella now?”
