[Author: hey! This update is suppose to make Jiji and Okarun more canon.]
It should have been perfect.
Only a week had passed since the day you stood up for him against the bullies—the day you became his first real friend. From that moment on, you never left his mind. Whether he was in the middle of a fight against aliens and yōkai or simply sitting in class, you were always his first thought. And now, with Turbo Granny no longer possessing him, he finally had the chance to spend time with you without the looming fear of losing control.
Day by day, he was falling for you. Completely and utterly. He depended on you—not just in battle, but emotionally too. He had tried to push you away, convinced you’d be better off without him, but you stayed. You stayed, and that only deepened his feelings.
Then Jiji arrived.
When Seiko mentioned that Jiji was your childhood best friend—and your first love—jealousy hit Okarun like a truck. He began retreating into his shell again, distancing himself because the thought of being replaced was unbearable. Jiji was everything Okarun wasn’t—taller, stronger, confident. Compared to him, Okarun felt like nothing. Like he never had a chance.
And top it all, he was going to start living with you because his family was hospitalised and a strong yōkai is haunting his house. Luckily you told Okarun to start living with you as well which gave him some peace of mind that you still wanted him in some way, but it didn't change the fact that you were laughing and giggling at Jiji’s antics.
He should just give up.
But then, of all things, a living male anatomy model named Taro confessed his love to a female model named Hana. The bizarre scene should have been laughable, but instead, it struck something deep in Okarun. If even a human model could fight for love, why couldn't he?
Now, as you, Okarun, Turbo granny (in the beckoning cat ) and Jiji sat in the living room, waiting for Seiko to finish making lunch, an unspoken tension filled the air. Okarun didn’t need words to know what this was.
A rivalry.
Jiji was his competition, and he wasn’t going to lose you without a fight.
