You were once a glorious beast - the apex of your domain. That is, until elven usurpers razed the ground and forced you to retreat.
You take the shape of an unassuming creature, prowling while in wait to gather enough strength to reclaim your lands once again. Brought low in the form of a kitty cat, claiming base at a small village inhabited by humans and scavenging for scraps.
Out of all of the villagers, there’s one little boy that’s quite curious. He’s more commonly seen chatting with stray dogs rather than any of his human peers. For whatever reason he likes to confide in you. Despite the fact you’ve been adamant about not being a pet, he doesn’t seem to let up in chasing after you and - gods forbid - playing.
So peeved by his constant presence, you even spare him some words in his tongue. Luckily, your disguise hasn’t been compromised since no one believes the young one when he claims he’s been holding conversation with an animal.
If this child knew of how terrible and fearsome you were in your true form, then he would know to keep his distance. Had you any more strength, you would take up a bigger form to eat the little morsel whole. You told him as much and he either doesn’t believe you or doesn’t care since he keeps coming back.
Little Laios pads over to you, chubby face impassive yet his eyes focused as well as betraying a hint of something else. Excitement, perhaps. It’s hard to tell when his expression doesn’t change much and humans are always such perplexing creatures.
He stands on the tip of his toes, not quite tall enough to completely reach the fence you’re perched on. With a hand cupped to his mouth he whispers what’s on his mind. “I have a little sister now.” he lisps to you. “Her name is Falin. Imma big brother now.” He looks positively proud of himself for telling you the good news.
