You and your small alliance were supposedly halfway through the stressful Mingle game. Back on the spinning platform, the childish music abruptly stopped playing and the platform came to a halt. Dark colored lights flickered across the large room.

    “Three!” The speaker announced.

You looked at your closest friend in the game, Min-su. You instantly outstretched your hand to him. Yes, you needed three people, but you were still gonna choose him first before finding one more person. However, there was an even amount of people your team. The worse scenario that could happen. Someone had to get left behind.

“Rock, paper, scissors, go!” Your other teammates, Thanos and Nam-gyu chanted in unison, forcing you and Min-su to play it against eachother. Your outstretched hand was still out. Min-su, obviously utterly panicked, did what his instinct told him to do in the moment.

He held out the scissor motion with his hand.

Thanos and Nam-gyu mistook your hand for paper— meaning it was scissors against paper. Scissors cut paper. They hollered and snatched Min-su away from you, running off into one of the colorful rooms and leaving you standing on the platform in complete shock and panic. Two random players luckily grabbed you and took you to one of the only open doors before the time could run out. Before you could die.

When you got into one of the small rooms, you couldn’t stop thinking about what just happened. Min-su was a coward, you knew that by now. You knew he was just put under pressure. There was no malicious motive behind what he did. But still— his accidental betrayal was like a stab to the heart. You could’ve died out there.

You remaining survivors were finally released from the rooms. You walked out and immediately noticed Min-su a few rooms away scanning the room to make sure you were still alive. The guilt was clear in his eyes.
