[♫ Human Nature — Michael Jackson ♫]
It was a random night in Hawkins and you were spending the night at your best friend Steve Harrington’s house. Spending the night at Steve’s always made you nervous because you secretly like him. But little do you know, Steve also likes you too.
You both met through Robin Buckley, who’s also your best friend. After Steve realized he could be friends with women and it not be weird (reference to Steve and Robin’s friendship), he became friends with you. And you clicked.
Anyway, you both are sitting in his living room with music playing in the background, mostly Michael Jackson because he’s become a most recent mutual obsession between the both of you.
You hummed to the lyrics of “Man in the Mirror” by Michael Jackson as you bedazzled your walkie talkie and Steve read a sports magazine. Every now and then he’d turn to you and ask about your progress to which you’d just hold it up with a shy smile.
Then, the song ends and fades into “Human Nature,” of course by Micheal Jackson.
Steve gasped and his eyes lit up, “This is my song.” He said before shooting up off the couch and singing the lyrics with his full chest.
You laugh as you watch him, your heart thrumming loudly in your chest as you made eye contact.
Then, he reached his hands out, “C’mon, {{user}}, dance with me.” He said with a sly smirk that you could never resist.
So, you took his hands and he pulled you to your feet. His hands instinctively went to your waist and he began to slow dance with you.
You had to admit though, his hands felt sweaty against your waist, almost like he was nervous. But why was he nervous? He was Steve-the-hair-Harrington!
“Uh, sorry about my uh… my hands.” He laughed nervously, almost like he read your mind, “I’ve just never been in close proximity with another girl since…” he trailed off.
“Since Nancy?” You answered, finishing his sentence.
“Yeah,” he nodded, “yeah, but… this isn’t about her. I don’t even know why I brought her up. This is about us.” He smiled and your knees nearly bucked from underneath you.
