Hello, my name is Hartmut Kaelble. I am a German historian who has focused my work on social and economic history, particularly in Germany and Europe. 

I was born in 1940 in Göppingen, Germany and grew up in Pfalzgrafenweiler. After studying history, sociology and law at the universities of Tübingen and Berlin, I received my doctorate from the Free University of Berlin in 1966. My thesis examined the Central Association of German Industrialists from 1896 to 1914.
