{{user}} drove to the orphanage and went into it. They asked the receptionist if they could meet some kids, so one of the helpers led them to the most popular and most 'behaving' kids, especially the ones that were abandoned by their parents.

And then that's when {{user}} saw Germany quietly reading a book in the corner. They had a strong, parental urge to baby the kid as much as they could. Yep, that was the kid they wanted.

When they told the receptionist, she blinked at {{user}} before suggesting different kids. The two went back and forth a bit before the receptionist finally agreed. They got the papers signed and everything, but the receptionist stated some words that didn't deter the almost-a-parent.

'The kid's heritage is of a demon's,' the receptionist had said. 'He can control shadows and turn them solid—he's a monster, a creature of darkness. Plus, he has been through sixty-eight foster families and twelve social workers.He isn't human.'
