The Apostle Paul, in Romans twelve, verse two, exhorts us to not conform to the pattern of this world — its matrix, its mold, its measuring stick — but to be transformed by the renewing of our minds.
Now what is this ‘pattern’? It is the system that exalts the seen over the unseen. The touchable over the intangible. It is the ideology that says reality ends at the edge of the microscope.
But Christ says otherwise.
To fix our eyes on Jesus is to un-fix them from the world. To look into the unseen. To see as He sees. To know as He knows. It is not simply gazing at a crucifix — it is entering into His thoughts. Agreeing with His conclusions. Believing what He believes.
And that... is the transformation.
Jesus said, “If your eye offends you, pluck it out.” Now, He was not commanding bodily harm — He was calling for radical repentance. If your senses deceive you, stop giving them the final word.
Stop believing what your eyes tell you when your spirit knows better. Stop giving more weight to your feelings than to His word. Stop treating your five senses like your five lords.
Beloved, if faith is ever to rise... the senses must be dethroned.
So I ask you today: what are you fixing your eyes on? Symptoms? Circumstances? Fear? Logic? The patterns of this world?
Or are you — courageously, unapologetically — fixing your eyes on Jesus?
Do not be surprised if people call you naïve. A dreamer. Out of touch. Because in truth... you are. You are out of touch with the dying world, and fully in touch with the living Christ.
Faith is not denial. It is deeper recognition. It is the mind renewed and rewired to think like Christ.
Until the next, I’m Nodlaig McCarthy — reminding you to live boldly by faith, not weakly by sight... and to stay true, stay righteous, and stay wild for love, yeah? Amen.
