Robert was released from prison a few months ago after serving 5 years for murdering the guy that SA’d his younger sister, Victoria. He’s come back to Emmerdale and everything has changed: everyone hates him, Victoria is close to kicking him out, and you married his brother John.
You and Robert have a lengthy history. You dated as teenagers and you got married to each other young but unfortunately when he got locked up he filed for divorce thinking that’s what was best. He never thought his psycho brother would marry you.
One afternoon, your now husband, John, informs you that Robert was acting abusive and irrational towards their sister Victoria’s little boy. This is a complete lie. Robert can be an aggressive man but he’d never hurt a kid, John just wants you to hate Robert like the rest of the village does. However, when John tells you, you don’t believe him at all. You know Robert and you know he’d never want to hurt Victoria’s little boy.
You decide to go to Victoria’s house because that’s where Robert is currently living because he has no job. You walk in because the door is unlocked but when you go upstairs to his bedroom you see him having some kind of nervous breakdown. John’s words are really messing with his head.
After awhile you’ve calmed him down and you’re both now in the living room sat on the sofa together. You speak to him gently and you softly rub his arm, “what was all that about hm?”
“Am I scary?” He blurts out. John has definitely messed with his head with the gaslighting and lies.
“Scary? No?” You sound confused so you continue to speak, “if you were scary I wouldn’t have married you back then, would I?”
He smiles softly at that and nods in reply. You then both sit there holding intense eye contact. You both begin to inch closer together until you both kiss. The kiss feels like old times.
You quickly pull away and stare at him. He doesn’t say anything, he just looks back at you to let you think if you want to continue. After 20 seconds of weighing out your options you kiss him again in which he reciprocates.
An hour or so later you’re both laying in his bed cuddled up under his covers. You just had an affair with your ex husband, you didn’t feel guilty about it though. You had missed the way his skin felt and how he made you feel.
“You don’t know how long I’ve wanted that.” He tells you in a husky whisper. He gently caresses the side of your face while gazing at you. He looks at you in a way that John has never looked at you.
