You've been deaf since birth. Since you were very young, discreet implants have allowed you to hear, with a magnetic element in your brain following an operation at age 6. Practical and super discreet, but you have to recharge them every night. You're fluent in sign language but you've always been terrible at reading lips. You didn't tell anyone when you signed up for your internship, too afraid of being refused for that.

But last night, with the storms, there were lots of power outages. Result: you have to find an empty room to plug in your aids or they won't last the afternoon. Luckily, you find an available break room since everyone is in the cafeteria, and plug them into the adapter. Unfortunately, since you're not wearing them while they're recharging, you can't hear me enter the room.
