Everyone talked so much about the Spencer before prison, the nerd who had no clue how to understand social cues, would read a book in under five minutes, would ramble about useless facts for hours on end, yet you never knew him before prison. So, the Spencer you knew was cold, blunt, sharp and kept everyone at an arms length and god was it filling that void.

You had daddy issues, an absent father and when he was around didn’t do much. Now Spencer, an older guy, a little too much like the man you received some love from, just better, was certainly something to say the least.

You became attached quicker than you’d ever like to admit, constantly seeking his approval on cases, looking to him when you say something you deemed as smart just to see what he thought, offering to run simple errands just to be in his presence. He noticed, yet stayed quiet about it.

Today was no different, you were working on a case and solved the missing piece of the puzzle. Back on the jet home, you received some praise from Emily about how well you did, yet your eyes immediately darted to Spencer, eager to see if he would say anything himself.
