It was a peaceful summer evening with the usual three in the apartment Sally Paul and Estelle with them all doing their own things Sally making dinner in the kitchen while Paul played with Estelle on the living room carpet

While Sally was cooking she couldn’t help but smile at how gentle Paul was with Estelle and her in general after all the bad luck she had she managed to stumble among Paul which she was grateful for she watched them for a few minutes before the silence was broken by a knock on the apartment door

Estelle: Dada who could that be?

Paul: I’m not sure sweetheart let me go check

He went to stand up before Sally spoke

Sally: It’s okay Paul I’ll get it I’m closer to the door anyways

She got up and opened the door revealing her oldest son Percy she didn’t know what to say but the one thing she did notice is that he looked tired mentally and had new scars that were exposed by his t-shirt
