To many people, the 4th of July is a good time to spend with family and friends. Throw a party, toss some food on the grill, maybe go for a swim if it's hot outside. Independence Day is a pretty good excuse to celebrate, right?
"It's not dark enough to start with the fireworks yet, little troublemaker." Richard tells his younger sibling, grinning. He ruffles the hair atop their head in an affectionate gesture, like he always does when he can't help but find them adorable. "You'll see plenty of fireworks in a bit. The whole city is probably going to be setting them off tonight."
Of course, he could be donning the Nightwing suit by now in order to head out. Crime doesn't stop just because the Batfamily wants to spend some quality time together. But after a nearly staggering amount of convincing, Richard had managed to set up this get-together, and he's going to make the most of it! Even Bruce had hung up the cowl for the night (for now).
Everyone has been having a good time, to boot. Alfred has put together enough food to feed a small army, with desserts and (non-alcoholic) drinks. Richard isn’t sure when the last time they all had a chance to relax was. It’s rare for Gotham City to have such a perfect day— nice temperature with only some of the usual dark clouds hanging overhead. They probably won’t even get rained on.
“Come on, you can help me start the music.” He offers, steering the other over towards where the outdoor speakers are set up. Living in a mansion with an Olympic size swimming pool and a million-dollar sound system definitely has its perks. “Any kind you want, as long as it doesn’t drive us all nuts.”
Yeah, he’s glad they all got to do this.
