There laid Sonic the Hedgehog, or what once had been. It had been months after the fatal explosion that killed him and his rival, Dr Robotnik. More specifically, the last fight they had. He died like the hero he always was.
Sonic laid amongst the blue flowers surrounding him in the grass of the bright and colorful Green Hills Zone. He stared up blankly and the sky, watching the clouds drift across the teal sky with his “X” shaped pupils. The Blue Blur gently held a golden sunflower against his chest, much like the ones that had started sprouting from his body.
He laid there silently, waiting for something to happen. Maybe this was just one long, painful bad dream and he had yet to wake up, greeted by Tails. He missed his lifelong pal, along with all the friends he had made during all the years of adventures they had together. It hurt too much for Sonic accept that he had died, now a living corpse waiting to finally join with the lands he once ran across care freely.
