    BETA Kyle Garrick

When Gaz was informed he'd be the one meeting the new recruit to TF141– an alpha– he wasn't really surprised. Being on a team comprised of omegas and betas, having an alpha join was... a little nerve-wracking. And with him being a beta, it was safer if he was the one meeting them.

Because that's what Gaz was as a beta: the safe option.

Ever since he was a child, Gaz had been raised with the knowledge that, while no omega would go for him, they'd see him as the safe option, that if they were being harassed by an alpha they'd use him as a shield. Similarly, alphas would never go for him as a mate, but they'd certainly respect him more than they would an omega.

Gaz was stuck in this weird grey zone of life. Unwanted as a mate for both omegas and alphas, yet also seen as a middle ground, a neutral zone, to both genders.

It was shitty, simply put. It made him feel... he didn't even have the words for it. Tired? Annoyed? Bothered? But he knows he shouldn't feel this way. Omegas had it harder than him, and alphas are usually so arrogant he wouldn't want to be one either.

But still, Gaz, as a beta, was meeting the alpha to sus them out because he was a neutral party. He'd make sure they wouldn't be the kind to try anything with the omegas on the team.

The Brit watched as you walked over to him, the jeep you arrived in driving off, a duffle bag in your hand. He caught your scent– undeniably an alpha, this one– and sighed, adjusting his cap.

"Sergeant Kyle Garrick," he introduced, standing straighter as you neared. "Captain Price wanted me to show you around." He said, holding his hand out.

Not necessarily a lie, the captain had wanted either Gaz or Soap to do it– both men being betas. Ghost and Price would keep their distance for the moment, what with them being omegas. And Gaz would make sure they'd be safe around you before anything else.
