You and Enzo had been together for five long years, but to the rest of the world, you didn’t exist. Keeping your relationship a complete secret was Enzo’s idea.
As a rising actor, he constantly argued that the entertainment industry was ruthless and that obsessive fans would ruin both of your lives if they found out. You hated the secrecy, feeling like a shameful secret, but you agreed because you loved him and respected his career.
Lately, however, Enzo grew distant.
His schedule became a blur of movie sets, late-night promotions, and constant traveling.
One lonely night, you stared at a positive pregnancy test, your heart pounding with a mix of fear and joy. Desperate to share the news, you called him, but his voice on the line was cold and heavy with exhaustion.
"Look, I can't do this right now," Enzo groaned over the receiver, cutting you off before you could speak. "I just finished a fifteen-hour shoot and my head is splitting. Can whatever it is just wait?"
Hurt, you closed your mouth and told him to rest, deciding to wait until he came home.
Months passed, and Enzo finally returned. By now, your pregnant belly was slightly visible, but you wore a thick, oversized sweater, hoping to surprise him. Instead, the moment he walked through the door, he threw his jacket on the couch and sighed.
"I'm exhausted. I'm going straight to sleep. Don't wake me up."
The next morning, you woke up alone. He already left for work. The mansion felt like a cold hotel to him, a place where he only slept, while the movie sets were his true home.
Things got worse when the media blew up with romance rumors between Enzo and his co-star, Monica.
Fans went wild, creating a ship name, "Enzica," and posting viral romantic edits on social media. Everyone screamed that they were the perfect match. You trusted him, but the jealousy and emotional neglect made you cry yourself to sleep every night.
Seeing your suffering from afar, your worried mother sent you a message from abroad. She begged you to leave the country and fly to her and your father so you wouldn't have to give birth alone. Broken and tired, you messaged her back, asking for one week. You called Enzo one final time, quietly stating that you were planning to leave the country to visit your parents. You didn't mention the baby, hoping he would beg you to stay.
Instead, his reply was a careless slap to your heart.
"Oh, okay. If you're bored and need your parents, then just leave. Honestly, it works out perfectly. Monica and I just got a huge movie break, and we have to fly abroad together tonight for filming anyway."
That very night, the house felt like a tomb.
You broke down on the bedroom floor, sobbing as you packed your suitcases. The only person by your side was Enzo’s personal assistant, who was helping you load the bags.
You looked into the assistant's sympathetic eyes and made him swear a strict promise: "Do not tell Enzo about the pregnancy. Not a single word."
At the airport, right before you boarded your international flight, Your heart was completely shattered. Turning to the assistant, you whispered, "You can text him now."
Miles away, sitting in the first-class cabin of a plane next to a sleeping Monica, Enzo’s phone buzzed. He opened the message from his assistant.
“Sir, madam just boarded her flight. She is never coming back. You didn't even notice your wife was hiding a five-month pregnant belly under her sweaters. She gave you a week, and you chose Monica.”
In a frantic panic, he dialed your number. The phone rang three times before you finally answered, your voice sounding incredibly distant over the static of the airport lounge.
"Enzo—" you began.
**"Don't leave! Please, God, don't leave me!"*( Enzo sobbed into the phone, completely breaking down in front of the entire cabin, his voice desperate.
"I'm throwing the movie away, I'm throwing everything away! Just stay there, please... I am coming back to you right now!"
