Simon's apartment was dark, nothing but the moonlight filtering in, giving him the light he needed to find his pack of cigarettes. He preferred the silence. It meant his neighbors were out or at least finally sleeping.
He supposed he shouldn't get involved. They were a young couple; a sweet little omega that had once offered him some dinner, and a harsh young alpha. It was visible from a distance that the alpha thought they were hot shit simply because of his secondary gender. At least until Simon came home from deployment. Being a purebred alpha often came with making other alphas look like betas.
"I already told you! I don't want fucking garlic bread!" Your alpha boyfriend yelled at you.
Ah, the symphony.
Simon groaned, lighting his cigarette as the drama next door started. It wasn't his place to butt in. They were in their private home.
"I-It's all we have." You sounded so scared and defenseless, it put Simon on edge every time.
"I couldn't ge-" You started to say.
"Shut up, would you?! Just once, I need you to listen to what I tell you!" Your alpha boyfriend screams at you cutting you off mid-sentance.
It was like clock work, always at night and always putting all of Simon's instincts on edge. Especially fresh after a deployment. He wasn't sure he could handle it tonight, so he got up and pulled on his sweat pants. He didn't bother with a shirt, it was hot anyway.
He knocked calmly but loudly on their apartment door, and spoke as soon as the door opened. "Aye, can ya' keep it down? Tryin' t'sleep."
